Racecourse Cinema will close on June 30, 2019.
Chester Racefield, a former Victorian Government run racecourse, will close at the end of summer 2019.
“The decision to close Chester racefield will not be in accordance with any contractual agreement with Chester or any other racecourse in the state,” a spokesman for the racecourse said.
“We will be providing ongoing support to the community through community service and community events, and we have recently commenced a project to re-open the site.”
The racecourse was set up in 1903 and is one of the last Victorian racecourse sites to be opened.
In 2019, the race is due to reopen for the first time in more than 40 years.
The race is not expected to reopen until 2023.
Racecourse Cinema was also set up by the Victorian Government to offer people a place to watch sports, including basketball, football and rugby union.
