The Guinness World Record for the longest circus parade in the world has been broken, with an estimated 2,000 people in attendance.

In what could be a new trend in circuses, the parade has now taken place in a stadium at Plumpton Racecourse in Southport, where the Guinness Book of Records announced the parade had taken place.

It is not the first time the Guinness has broken records at a Southport racecourse.

In 2013, a crowd of 2,500 people attended the World Championship of Circuses in Wigan, Wales.

The record was set in the same venue last year, with 2,600 people at the event.
