The racecourse, in the north of NSW, is in the midst of a major expansion to become the first in the state to have two pools of hot water and hot tubs, as well as an all-weather, four-level hot tub.

A $10 million upgrade is expected to create an 800-hectare spa complex, a racecourse hotel and a water park, and the facilities will be a key feature of the first phase of the project.

The racecourse was built in the 1930s by Mr Haggs and his family and has been used as a training centre and a family home since.

It is located in the south-west of the state on the banks of the River Waikato and has a population of less than 1,000 people.

Kaikourams racecourse and spa complex are scheduled to open later this year.

It will be the first of its kind in the world.
